Rose perilla seed filling brings a unique flavor to Chinese tea time snacks. Ripe perilla seeds are full-bodied and chewy with a rich aroma and a hint of nutty oil. The rose paste is sweet and fragrant, with a floral aroma that lingers on the tongue. Black sesame powder adds rich flavor and nutrition. Low-sugar lotus seed paste is delicate and moderately sweet, and serves as the base for blending the flavors of all parties. These ingredients are combined to make Rose and Purple Soda Seed Filling. When wrapped in Chinese tea, such as in a Su-style mooncake, the softness of the lotus seed paste, followed by the aroma of perilla seeds and black sesame seeds, and finally the aroma of roses spreads out, creating a rich and distinctive flavor.

Ingredients

  • Cooked Perilla Seeds 40 grams
  • Rosehip Sauce 40 grams
  • Black Sesame Powder 50 grams
  • Carpet Lotus Seed Paste 160 grams

Instructions

  1. Add cooked perilla seeds, rosehip paste and black sesame seeds powder together in a bowl.

  2. Stir the ingredients in the bowl with a spoon or chopsticks to combine them initially.

  3. Add the low sugar lotus seed paste into the mixed ingredients and continue mixing until all the ingredients are well combined to form a filling with some viscosity and good dough formation.
